Datshi: Cow's milk cheese, often served in a spicy stew with red chillies (ema datshi).
Tshoem: A spicy curry made with beef and mushrooms.
Eue chum: Bhutanese red rice, a nutty-flavoured variety unique to Bhutan.

- Bhutan embassies and consulates do not process tourists visa for visitors. Tourists visas are processed by travel agents on behalf of them in Thimphu, Bhutan.
- Make sure to buy Travel and Medical Insurance.
- If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 112 and ask for an ambulance. You should contact your insurance company promptly if you are referred to a medical facility for treatment.
- The local currency is the Ngultrum, which is pegged to the Indian Rupee.
- Here Indian Rupees denominations of 500 and 1000 are not accepted in Bhutan. ATMs are located within all main towns throughout Bhutan, where money can be withdrawn using a Visa or MasterCard.
- Every vistiors to Bhutan requires a tourist visa. Exception are India and Bangladesh passports holders.
- Travel in Bhutan is very safe
- In Bhutan there are some banks ie the Bank of Bhutan Limited, the Bhutan National Bank, the Druk PNB and the Tashi Bank.
- It is recommended that you bring flat-to-round pin converters for your electronics if necessary; however, most hotels offer multi plug sockets.
- The low latitude of Bhutan combined with its high altitude means solar radiation in the country is intense. Even on cloudy days, you will get sunburn if you’re not careful, so bring sunglasses.
- It is recommended you pack appropriate warm clothes and comfortable hiking boots , preferably with ankle support .

- Check with your guide before taking pictures or filming inside Dzongs, temples, monasteries and religious institutions as in some area photograph/filming is not permitted.
- Buying of antiques from Bhutan is strictly monitored by customs. Please insist on a cash memo/original bill while purchasing
- Respect the Dress Code and Culture especially if you are planning a visit to religious institutions. Be kind enough to remove your hats, caps etc.
- The standard time of Bhutan is 6 hours ahead of GMT.
- Before embarking on a trip to Bhutan, please seek advice from your doctor with regard to vaccinations and appropriate medication you should have prior to your travels. As a minimum you should have tetanus, typhoid and hepatitis A inoculations.
- April, May, September and October will be the best months for a trek. Though it is slightly colder, the sky will be blue, and it will not be muddy.
- Monsoon seasons will start in July until August. The heavy downpour has been rare and occurred a few times a year.
- If you are prone to motion sickness, bring Dramamine or other medications to prevent nausea. Remember that you will be spending a lot of time in a car when travelling around Bhutan
- Only drink bottled water and avoid ice cubes.
- Leptospirosis, a bacterial infection that can be spread in fresh water, is found in Bhutan. Avoid swimming in fresh water and water that isn’t cholrinated, such as lakes, ponds, or rivers.
