📢 The Philippines has announced a major update to its work permit process starting in 2025.
-
đź“° Employers can now meet job advertisement requirements by posting in widely circulated newspapers for 15 days.
-
⏱ After the publication, companies can immediately apply for an Alien Employment Permit (AEP).
-
đź“‘ For AEP renewals, employers can submit an affidavit promising future compliance with the rule.
-
🎓 The Understudy Training Program (UTP) or Skills Development Program (SDP) now applies only to select companies.
-
đź—‚ These include companies with government incentives, public utilities, and strategic investments.
-
📆 Employers must submit UTP/SDP reports at regular intervals based on the permit’s duration.
-
✅ Certain groups, like business owners and exempt roles, don’t need to follow the training rule.
-
🗓 Permits issued before February 10, 2025, won’t need UTP/SDP until they’re renewed.
-
🔍 A new technical group will monitor and report on how foreign hiring affects the local job market.
