Attention foreign workers and employers in Croatia! Effective 2024, Croatia implemented a significant 20% increase in its national minimum wage. This means the minimum monthly salary jumps from €700 to €840.
Who’s Affected?
This increase applies to EU nationals and those seeking general Stay and Work Permits. However, there are exceptions:
- Key Personnel and EU Blue Card: These categories have separate salary thresholds.
- EU Intra-Company Transferee Permit: Here, the salary should be comparable to what a local worker earns in the same role (market rate).
- Posted Workers: Their salaries must align with the wages of local workers according to Croatian law (collective bargaining agreement) if it offers a better rate than the employment agreement.
Compliance is Key
With this change, employers are required to adjust salaries accordingly. This applies to existing foreign workers and those with pending or new applications, if their current salary falls below the new minimum.
Important Note: Benefits and allowances don’t count towards the minimum wage calculation.
Croatia: A More Attractive Destination?
This minimum wage increase enhances Croatia’s appeal as a work destination for skilled foreign workers. It reflects the country’s commitment to fair compensation and aligns wages with current market trends.
