π’ The Philippines has announced a major update to its work permit process starting in 2025.
π° Employers can now meet job advertisement requirements by posting in widely circulated newspapers for 15 days.
β± After the publication, companies can immediately apply for an Alien Employment Permit (AEP).
π For AEP renewals, employers can submit an affidavit promising future compliance with the rule.
π The Understudy Training Program (UTP) or Skills Development Program (SDP) now applies only to select companies.
π These include companies with government incentives, public utilities, and strategic investments.
π Employers must submit UTP/SDP reports at regular intervals based on the permitβs duration.
β Certain groups, like business owners and exempt roles, donβt need to follow the training rule.
π Permits issued before February 10, 2025, wonβt need UTP/SDP until theyβre renewed.
π A new technical group will monitor and report on how foreign hiring affects the local job market.
