Cambodia e-Visa Entry Points Restricted: Only Airports and Vietnam/Laos Borders Now Open

12 September 2025 · Europe Permit

  • Cambodia has closed two land borders with Thailand to e-Visa holders: Cham Yeam and Poipet.

  • Travelers with e-Visas can no longer enter via these checkpoints until further notice.

  • Entry is now only allowed via major international airports: Phnom Penh (KTI), Siem Reap (SAI), and Sihanoukville (KOS).

  • e-Visa holders may also enter via Bavet (Vietnam border) and Tropaeng Kreal (Laos border).

  • Phnom Penh’s new Techo International Airport now accepts e-Visas, replacing the old PNH airport.

  • Exiting Cambodia is still allowed from any valid international checkpoint, regardless of visa type.

  • Authorities continue to warn travelers about safety risks at border areas with Thailand.

  • These changes force travelers to adjust land routes, especially those coming from Thailand.

  • Only e-Visa holders are affected; other visa types may have different entry rules.

  • Travelers are advised to stay updated with official travel advisories due to the fluid situation.
