The Romania work visa interview at the Embassy of Romania, New Delhi usually lasts a short time — but the preparation for it decides everything. In our Part 1 preparation video (English: https://youtu.be/iS9ephXZdlw · Nepali: https://youtu.be/ejekVnkZ6mo), we take candidates through the full preparation phase. This written guide is the companion to that video, so you can follow along with your own file in hand.
A straight disclaimer: the visa decision is the embassy's alone. No agency can promise approval. What preparation can do — and does — is remove the hesitation and document errors that stall otherwise genuine applications.
1. Know your file
The single most important preparation step is to know what is inside your own file, because the interview questions are built on it.
- Your employer — the company name, exactly as written in the contract and work permit documents.
- Your role — the job title and the duties that go with it, in simple words.
- Your location — the city and workplace the contract states.
- Your documents — passport, employment contract, work permit paperwork, medical certificate and any other file items, so you can name them without shuffling.
Tip: lay your documents out in order the week before and read through each one once. You do not need to memorise everything — you need to recognise everything.
2. Salary: gross and net in RON
Salary questions catch many candidates off guard because the contract shows two figures — gross and net — and they are quoted in Romanian lei (RON), not rupees.
- Gross salary is the amount before deductions; net salary is what you receive after tax and contributions.
- Know both figures from your contract, and know which one you are quoting when asked.
- Practise saying the numbers in simple English (or Nepali, if the interpreter is being used) so they come out calmly.
If you do not understand a figure in your own contract, ask your coordinator to explain it before the interview — a candidate who cannot explain their own salary looks unprepared, even when nothing is wrong.
3. Common interview questions
The questions Romanian visa officers ask Indian candidates follow a predictable pattern. In the video we go through them in detail; the core ones are:
- Why do you want to work in Romania?
- Who is your employer, and what will you do there?
- What salary did you agree to?
- Where will you live and work?
- Do you know the terms of your contract?
- What do you know about your rights and obligations as a worker?
The rule for every answer: truthful, simple, and consistent with your file. A candidate who says "I don't know" to a question about their own contract creates doubt. A candidate who answers from their own documents creates trust.
4. Your self-introduction
You will almost always be asked to introduce yourself. A structured, 30-second introduction works best:
- Your name and where you are from.
- Your experience — the work you have done, simply stated.
- The role you are going for — the job in Romania and your employer.
- Why you are suitable — one honest reason tied to your experience.
Avoid memorised speeches — officers ask follow-up questions, and a memorised answer falls apart. Practise your introduction out loud a few times, in the language you will use in the interview, until it feels natural.
5. Document consistency
Interviews are lost on small inconsistencies, not big lies:
- Spelling — your name must be spelled identically across passport, contract, permit and forms.
- Dates and numbers — employment dates, salary figures and validity dates must match across documents.
- Passport validity — check it is valid well beyond the intended stay, with blank pages for stamps.
Go through your file with this checklist the week before. One letter of difference in your name can require a re-do; catching it early saves weeks.
6. The week before — a simple plan
- Day 7: read your full file once; note anything you do not understand.
- Day 5: ask your coordinator about anything unclear — salary, dates, employer details.
- Day 3: practise your introduction and salary answers out loud.
- Day 1: pack your documents in order and check the appointment time and address.
