Based on the compliance framework every legal deployment follows, here are the clearest warning signs that something isn't legitimate:
- No MEA licence number, or a licence number that doesn't appear on emigrate.gov.in's Active RAs list
- A request for cash payment, or any payment without a receipt
- Fees above ₹30,000 + GST for the agency's own service charge
- A "job" offered on a tourist visa
- A guaranteed visa, job, or fixed timeline — no legitimate agency can promise these
- No written employment contract or demand letter
